Madness Mindfuck

I've never heard of Cold Army Army. Not a wink, not before watching this, so God knows how the fuck you came across the band. And, judging by the results Google seems determined to cram down my throat, I'm convinced I'll never hear of them again. And yet, Mindchamber, and yet - for some reason I've been hoodwinked into believing that this song is now the very best on Earth, winning by bloody default. This music video, this excruciatingly awesome music video provides that default.

It's sketchy, jotted down and somewhat rushed - not without good reason, but the style stands. It's all just adding into this pot luck of a flash, and I can't help but crave moar. You've not just gotten my attention hooked, you've bent it over, taken it to brown-town and left it with a bad case of the shit-weasels. Madness has been stylized into a different brand of madness, and that's the type of thing I kinda hunger for.

Enough dick-sucking. For all it's good points, this flash does have it's bad points. All two of them. The first, to be breif and to the point (yeah, right) is that you've blantantly used parts from Madness Regent in your video. I don't know ifthis was to enhance viewing pleasure, make up for the other detail lacking parts, or to create a god-damned radioactive bluebottle but DAMN, it stands at such odds with the rest of the flash that I couldn't help but wince every time one of the said objects show up on screen. City and Clouds? Recycling is not cool. Not cool at all.

Secondly, I suppose, this is really just an afterthought, is the lack of reactions withing the video. Sure the main character show plenty of facial and bodily expression (screaming in pain/anger, generally FFFFUUUUUing) but the grunts showed a fraction of the expression and not nearly enough of them died to make up for it. Not to mention there were some damned convienent moments in there. Litres of blood magically soaking into the ground? Sure, not a problem. City at enough of a tilt to explode a babie and with absolutely no building damage? Why not, bitch. No bloody civilians out for the raping? Too busy raping them. Just saying. And entertaining myself.

But hey, it's a damned good flash, one that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone who asks. Pretty obvious you weren't expecting the kind of reception you earned, simply making it moar awesome through the strands of surprise. Oh, and MC Hammer = a final fuck you. I just loved that.

Titanic in Utero?

First of all, congratulations on the submission. You did good, shoving six months of work into a two-part epic (20mb is an epic in my books) and you fully earned the score and awards you received. Just your luck it was a Pico day submission, where everyone was busy submitting their own epic, otherwise I'm certain you would have bagged full gold. Separating the series from Tankmen itself is probably a good move, as long you your continue to pay homage to it's roots and all.

Now, for the review. I'm giving this flash movie a score of 8, because for all it's good points, it lacks in two major areas (but thankfully not critical) : Character and Depth. Course, you've probably received this point a million times over, but I'm going to point it out, ever-so-painfully, anyway, because it's really the only thing I found wrong with the toon. Hell, I even wrote it down, so I'll try lose anything useless in translation.

Character is pretty damn lacking, as you've no doubt been told, and of course if this were the first toon you would have no responsibility for that. Not easy to establish 3-5 characters in 10 or so minutes. But it's not. It's your third. And, having them still so... palpable isn't very committed of you to scripting them unique characterization moments - everything from how they react to other characters, to how they handle a situation (although walking out on the unit is a step in the right direction, it was still pretty much a given). As it is now, it's a case of 'Okay, I get it. Goggles is Spongebob, Visor is Squidward, Sarge is Master Chief and Sargeclone is Bowser with a severe case of hemorrhoids.

In future installments (and hooray, there are) consider your backstories - they don't even have to be interesting or exciting, just enough to define them as they are now. Why is Goggles such a douche? How did Sarge go all badass? When the fuck did a cloning machine come in? Monologues and in-depth conversations (I'm not talking simple exchanges or whining, although somehow the title 'Deserters' gives me the idea that they're going to have plenty of time. So hell, give them quirks (smokers?), nicknames, Anti-Canada tattoos, whatever - define them. As it is, Visor and Goggles look pretty much the damn same, dontcha think? Cool, bu the same. Couldn't tell them apart if they had their backs turned.

Depth: Story. The story in itself is okay, but it's the execution of it. It's pretty damn poor. Tankmen are good guys, and if you argue with that you're a dead man. Not nearly enough to befit something like this - they're simply too... good. Why the hell is that? Why aren't they being war and pain gluttons offended to hell by the thought of some bloody Utopia scarring their paradise. In other words, it's black-and-white. Pivotal. Binary. You could make it the Tankmen so much more interesting (And Badassery-saturated) simply by giving them a goal themselves. A goal that naturally doesn't appeal to us peace-lovers.
Hell, it's just a sugestion. Do whatever you want, but keep it coming, will you?

Finally, just commenting on the good points. Voice-acting is good, albiet a bit monotone, Graphics are great and original, especially for an epic, and those last 2 mintues where clearly not at your fault anyway. Include a spinning kick if you get the time =3.
Besides, I don't write a review unless I like something, otherwise it's jsut a waste of my damn time.

Lulz-lo-varse

I love the way you've established such a pre-planning base for these skits - they're popping out one after the after in a single indistinguishable stream of lulz and Entertainment. It seems you're using the same "sprites" one clip after the other - imagine you're saving a god-damn fatload of time, and other series might want to take heart from your example when it comes to updating on a regular basis.
For some wierd and utterly incomprehensible reason, I keep pronouncing the name "Gameover-verse". Might need to change that. Sends the wrong message.

Oh, and the person below me is gai =3

Great music selection and pacing =D

Seriously, everything seemed to have a flow from it - from the zombie nade to Mr. Duck, it just sort of connected. Loved it =D
Don't know if it was just an accident or anything, but this is seriously one of my more loved Madness tributes, now.

Pop culture satire or just pure randomness?

Stereotypical Anime characters, profuse amount of close-ups, huge rating-racking jubblies, irrevelant plot twists, horrible voice-acting and amatuer-ish animation mistakes.

Fucking priceless, man.

A masterpiece

I can't even imagine the mental stress you must have dealt with, sculpting this flash pixel by pixel. The drama involved, the personal life sacrificed. The soundtrack - how did you manage such a magnificent piece? It truly brings a tear to my eye, seeing true flash artists like you working on awe-inspiring epitomes, like this.
I prostrate myself before you.

Quirky thing I noticed...

There were 4 points of view, but 5 survivors. Roberts certainly adds to the list of possible futures =D (although he may just be expendable material)

Anyway, loved the flash - instant 5 & 10.

Orgy Awesome

You know, you should've called it a Morphgasm =D Loved the vid, total fav.

TheBoogley responds:

just like in the origins of dick neck movie

Chickeness is fully deserved.

Just another reminder that hacking does not pay =D Total 5, man.

The scales have balanced

With the right amount of quirkyness, incredibly funny humour, and unique style of art you've... pwned everything else. Love it.
